Tools with brazed inserts (carbide, PCD, CBN) usually have several times longer service life than conventional machine tools. But for us to serve us flawlessly for many years, they must undergo, and especially their brazed inserts, a complete service once in a while.
It might seem that, in practice, the brazed tools are rarely used though it is quite the opposite. We have a lot of customers who swear by the brazed tools with carbide or PCD plates.
However, the disadvantage is the more demanding replacement of the inserts with the associated costs. Refurbishment of tools with brazed inserts does not consist simply in removing the blades, as in the case of VBD, but in the complete removal of solder and brazing flux, re-brazing, and sharpening of the material to the final dimension.
